Introducing MP 2C - the ultimate multi-purpose structural waterproofing

What is PRO MP 2C?
PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C is a flexible, all-in-one structural waterproofing solution. It has the qualities of a polymer modified bitumen thick coating (but without the bitumen) and a waterproof grout, creating a powerful combination of two types of waterproofing. Its quick curing time and excellent scalability will drastically reduce the time spent on the job, no matter the size of the project.

6 things you need to know about MP 2C
As with any new product emerging on the market, you want to know that what you’re buying is the right specification, compliant and of the highest quality without breaking your budget. We’ve made sure that the PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C meets all these requirements and more. Here are six things you need to know about our flexible waterproofer.
1. The ultimate all-rounder
We’ve called the PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C the ultimate all-rounder for a reason. The ‘MP’ stands for ‘Multi-Purpose’. This product is a complete structural waterproofing solution, suitable for a variety of mineral and some non-mineral substrates.
MP 2C can be used for any number of waterproofing projects, including:
- Horizontal and vertical waterproofing - such as foundation walls, green roofs, podium decks, wet rooms and basement walls and floors. It’s especially ideal for external waterproofing.
- Waterproofing basements and cellars - PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C can be used over old bitumen coatings (test first for adhesion), making it suitable as a rapid waterproofer for older properties and basements.
- New build waterproofing - It’s a flexible polymer thick coating and has crack-bridging properties to also help with building settlement.
- Plinth waterproofing - and other applications like bonding external insulation panels.

2. Cost effective
Using the highest quality ingredients, MP 2C creates an impenetrable water barrier for all kinds of jobs. Many other polymer-modified products of a similar quality can be costly - especially when you factor in purchasing primers if the substrate has no key.

3. An innovative system
When designing MP 2C, we carefully considered every element of the product to make it as straightforward as possible to use - including the packaging and initial mixing.
When you receive your product, you’ll find a bucket within a bucket. This is designed to make mixing on site mess-free and efficient. The two components are separated within the tub - create the desired formula out of the two components. It also has less plastic than other products on the market.
Just slowly mix the powder into the liquid - this can be done inside the bucket - for about three minutes until you have a cream consistency, and then you’re ready to go.
Please note: we recommend mechanically mixing the product with a paddle stirrer and drill.
4. Fast-acting waterproofing
As well as speeding up preparation, we’ve rapidly cut down the application process. PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C doesn’t take long to dry either - only 12 hours. Just two coats are needed for maximum performance, and, unlike other products on the market, you don’t need to prime beforehand. This cuts down on preparation time rapidly as you don’t need to wait for the primer layer to dry and only need to apply a scratch coat instead.
When it comes to using the product itself, simply use a trowel, brush or airless sprayer. This allows you to cover projects of all sizes without impacting performance.
The material itself dries to a dark grey, and you can also paint and plaster directly on top, so it won’t interfere with decorative finishes. The grey colour is also useful during application as you know the first layer is dry enough for the second coating.
5. High-quality formula
Like all of our products, PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C features high-quality ingredients to ensure maximum performance in all circumstances. It’s a bitumen-free product with all the qualities of a bitumen-thick coating, retaining that high level of durability and water resistance. The polymer element creates that elastic texture for excellent adhesion and flexibility.
It’s more than water-tight, too. It offers radon-certified protection (full certification details provided later in this article) and is UV- and frost-resistant. After four hours, it’s also fully rain-proof, making it an all-round, one-stop solution that’s independent of seasonal conditions.
6. Certifications and standards
No two jobs are the same, which is why it's important to know that the products you use adhere to the relevant code of practice. PermaSEAL PRO MP 2C offers certified protection in many different situations, providing you with complete peace of mind when using our product.
To start, MP 2C has an ETA assessment. This means that it has been independently tested by Technical Assessment Bodies with over 30 years of experience. It’s also radon-tight, ideal for gas-resistant waterproofing systems that help keep homeowners safe in their own homes.
For Type A systems, MP 2C also complies with BS8102 and can be used alongside drainage membranes. For external waterproofing purposes, it can be used as the primary waterproofing layer as its high compressive strength (2500kN/m²) ensures that the building is watertight.
