Non-Slip Aggregate for epoxy floors

This oven dried, fine quartz aggregate, granulation 0.3mm - 0.6mm, is ideal for use with a range of epoxy flooring resins to provide an anti-slip coating. It can also provide a fully bonded key for subsequent coatings to be applied to epoxy resins.

Creating a Non-slip Epoxy Coating

A light non slip finish can be acheived by the addition of 5% weight of quartz aggregate to an epoxy resin. This would mean 250gms of quartz aggregate to 5kg of epoxy resin coating. The Quartz aggregate is added to the epoxy resin once the two parts of resin have been fully mixed then additional blending is required to disperse the aggreagate. 

Note: The epoxy resin should be mixed during application to ensure the aggregate does not drop out of the mix.

For a very heavy duty non slip finish, the quartz aggregate should be broadcast over the wet epoxy floor at a rate of 1.5 - 2kg/m² as per the below video and allowed to dry. Once dry, any loose quartz aggregate should be swept off and the a final seal coat should be applied over it.

Creating a "Key" for Further Coatings

The quartz aggregate should be broadcast over the wet epoxy floor at a rate of 1.5 - 2kg/m² as per the video below and allowed to dry. Once dry, any loose quartz aggregate should be swept off, surface vacuumed and then it is ready to recieve further coatings or bonded floor surfaces.

Quartz Aggregate Coverage

Coverage is usually 1.5 - 2 kg/m² for surface broadcast or 5% weight when adding to epoxy resin.
