Keep walls dry and save on energy bills with this innovative thin thermal wall insulation for internal use. It’s 4mm thick, flexible and easy to install.

Thin Internal Wall Insulation

ISO-THERM is an innovative ultra-thin thermal wall insulation. It keeps internal walls warm and dry, helping prevent damp and mould issues. The patented textile-based Thin Internal Wall Insulation (TIWI) is ideal for both residential and commercial properties. ISO-THERM insulation is effective as part of a damp proofing strategy, with the added benefit of improving energy efficiency by warming walls.

ISO-THERM internal wall insulation comes in 1-metre-wide rolls with an ultra-thin (+/-4mm) profile. It’s quick and easy to apply directly to plastered walls with a special mineral-based adhesive (available separately). The internal wall insulation’s flexibility means it can be easily cut to accommodate fixtures and fittings, it fits into window reveals and you don’t necessarily need to remove architraves and skirtings.

ISO-THERM is an excellent alternative to thicker wall insulation for dealing with the issues associated with uninsulated solid wall properties. It’s less disruptive, more affordable, and avoids the moisture problems made worse by some types of retrofit insulation.

We sell ISO-THERM insulation rolls and adhesive tubs separately or together as a convenient kit.

ISO-THERM 7.125 m² Kit contents

Each ISO-THERM kit includes the following items:

  • 1x ISO-THERM Thin Wall Insulation - 0.95 x 7.5 metre rolls
  • 1x ISO-THERM Adhesive - 15kg. This is enough to cover 7m² at a 5mm thickness.

For larger projects why not take advantage of our BULK BUY KIT which includes:

  • 10 x ISO-THERM Thin Wall Insulation - 0.95 x 7.5 metre rolls
  • 10 x ISO-THERM Adhesive - 15kg. This is enough to cover 70m² at a 5mm thickness.

Please note: It is worth ordering additional ISO-THERM adhesive for larger projects to avoid running out and unnecessary delays. Uneven walls or those with higher porosity can require more adhesive, where the stated coverage isn’t achieved.

ISO-THERM Adhesive

Permeable and water-repellent, ISO-THERM adhesive comes ready-to-use and is specially designed to fix the wall insulation firmly in place. Simply trowel the specially formulated mineral adhesive onto the wall. The adhesive is available individually as well as part of our kits.

Coverage

ISO-THERM Adhesive is applied at a coverage of 1.8kg per m² or up to 8.5m² per 15kg unit. We always recommend ordering extra adhesive for a project to account for variations in the wall and to avoid project hold-ups.

How does it work

ISO-THERM wall insulation is made of a specially woven polyester-based textile material that is both vapour permeable and waterproof. This means it blocks damp and salt transmission from the affected wall, protecting your final finish and preventing surface mould. Its vapour permeability means water vapour can escape. The high thermal benefit comes from patented technology.

Installing ISO-THERM

Lightweight and flexible, ISO-THERM insulation is easy to install. You can cut it to accommodate everything from radiator brackets to light switches, as well as form it around window reveals.

  1. Preparation
Make sure the wall surface is sound, clean and free from any dust or loose surface coatings such as flaking paint. Ideally, this product should be applied to bare plaster, and all previous coatings should be removed. Depending on the size of skirting boards or architraves, they may not need to be removed.

Porous surfaces may need priming with Permagard SBR diluted 1 part SBR to 2 parts clean water. Keying the surface will also help the adhesive bond effectively.

  2. Applying the adhesive
ISO-THERM adhesive comes ready to use. Simply apply with a 5 mm notched trowel to form horizontal ribs on the surface to a depth of no more than 3 mm.

  3. Applying the insulation
Starting from the top of the wall (like wallpaper), roll out the ISO-THERM insulation into the adhesive, making sure the edges line up with the previous piece. Smooth out by hand, then roll into the adhesive with a wallpaper press roller or similar.

  4. Finishing the surface
Once the adhesive has dried, ISO-THERM can be plastered directly. After the plaster skim coat has fully dried, you can finish with a breathable paint. The overall finished depth after a skim coat is approximately 10 mm.
